Where it all began…part 2

Picking it up from Part 1… dinner + elilie’s playing + watching Small Business Revolution…

I binge watched 3 episodes and cried at the end of every one. The marketing arm of Deluxe would go into a nominated mom and pop shop in a small town america town..

Not a million dollar business with a million dollar budget. I’m talking mom and pop. Ones I could relate to.

Then it hit me…we’re kind of doing this inside The Hatchery! Not on TV show scale, but on a small scale and piece by piece. Maybe with some time we could definitely put something more structured together and do something big!

I wish I could say that I went right into our space, scheduled a meeting with the group of owners I knew I wanted, and here we are launching.

But, I didn’t.

I kept it to myself.

- I was scared because it was so out there and not a normal business idea.
- I don’t like to ask for help or depend on other people.
- I didn’t think they’d want to be a part of it.

Over the next year I would start to talk about it a little here and a little there. I noticed people would ask more questions and not look at me like I had a second head!

I finally got to a point where the thought of someone else starting this type of business before me would not sit well. Like, not at all!

So, I scheduled a meeting with the group of members I talked about before, made a presentation to explain it, and at the end, asked if they wanted to be a part of it.

They did.

All of them.

So, for the last year we have been planning, doing market research, strategizing, and taking ourselves through our own process!

Have I wanted to have this finished so much faster? Yes.

Have I felt like I’ve had a foot on both the gas and the break? Yes.

But is it 100 times better because each expert built out their part? OMG Yes!

And now we’re fully launched into the world and baaaah it’s so so exciting!
